Rocky River
Each year, Cleveland Studios works directly with Rocky River Mayor Pamela Bobst and her team to create and deliver a high-quality, hyperlocal publication geared toward residents of the city. Features about the people, places and services that make Rocky River unique offer a snapshot of the city. This publication also includes a guide with important phone numbers, addresses and websites, as well as a list of local restaurants and other useful information.
In addition, an insert that runs annually in Cleveland Magazine’s June issue offers an opportunity for the city to reach a broader audience throughout Northeast Ohio. This insert showcases arts, culture and events, as well as the amenities Rocky River has to offer.
Inside the Community
Rocky River is a city just west of Cleveland that boasts a highly rated school system, direct access to Lake Erie, an eclectic collection of local shops and restaurants, robust park amenities and a top-notch senior center, among other amenities and services.
Identifying the Need
The city was looking for a way to promote all of the amenities that make Rocky River a desirable community while providing sought-after important information for its residents, as well as for those outside the community.
How Cleveland Studios Helps
The partnership with Cleveland Magazine offers a way to tell the city’s stories through real people, places and events, with journalistic integrity and a well-established audience.
In addition to the print publications, the stories are housed on Cleveland Magazine’s website, offering a broader reach and longer shelf life compared to a print-only publication.
Partnerships Work
To develop the magazines, our sales, editorial and design team meets with the mayor and her team to discuss new initiatives in the city, interesting people who live or work in the community, economic development news, information related to the schools, library and senior community and other topics important to residents.
Our editors and art directors work with a team of experienced writers and photographers to create the stories and images that become the basis for the publication. The art director designs s a printed product that brings the city’s stories to life.
Showcasing the City
The 2024 Resident Reference celebrated “The Great Outdoors.” The City of Rocky River has invested heavily in parks and greenspace over the last several years, including major improvements to Bradstreet’s Landing, a popular destination that offers direct access to Lake Erie. The publication’s main feature highlighted the finished product, the city’s work behind the scenes and how these park investments will benefit residents for generations to come.
In addition to robust parks, the city has a flourishing art scene. The June 2024 showcased opportunities to enjoy, practice, shop and explore art in the city. This includes a renowned art museum — the Cowan Pottery Museum — housed within the Rocky River Public Library, as well as the many local, independent shops and galleries that are thriving in the city and make it a destination worth exploring.
Getting Results
Through these publications and the concurrent online content, Cleveland Studios has been able to highlight and promote the city’s strengths through compelling stories and photography. Rocky River continues to be one of the most sought-after communities in Northeast Ohio.
“Over the course of many years, the City of Rocky River has worked closely with Cleveland Magazine to produce a yearly resident’s reference guide. The quality of production and the final publication has been top-notch, reflective of all our community has to offer its residents. The Mayor’s Office receives very positive feedback from the community regarding the publication. The staff at Cleveland Magazine/Great Lakes Publishing is a pleasure to work with, and the attention to detail has allowed the city to present a first-class, comprehensive publication to the community each year.” — Rocky River Mayor Pamela
